[Photoshop/Tutorial] Random Editing In This Week ^^

Actually it's a novel cover for our (I, Amii, and Sevy) novel. 

Fyi, it's a horror novel, so I make it gloomy hehe..

Steps to make the 1st picture :

1. FILE >> NEW. The size of this picture is 800 x 924 pixel (random).

2. FILE >> OPEN. Choose the picture for background. Click menu SELECT >> ALL (or CTRL+A). Then copy it to the untitled-1.

3. FILE >> OPEN. Choose a photos. Select it with Magic Wand Tool / Quick Selection Tool / Pen Tool. Then copy it to the untitled-1. If it not selected tidily, you can erase some parts it with Eraser Tool.

4. With magic wand tool, select the part of my face except the yellow lightstick part.

6. To make the photos become black and white, click menu IMAGE >> ADJUSTMENT >> BLACK & WHITE.

7. Last but not the last (?), give the text. To make the shadow effect behind the text, first you should duplicate the text layer, do RIGHT CLICK on the text layer >> DUPLICATE LAYER. Then the click menu FILTER >> BLUR >> MOTION BLUR. Keep the angle 0, and change the distance 128 pixels.

Fiiuhh..i know this edited picture is not good enough, but I spend a lot time to edit this. Because my photo resolution is too bad and it a bit difficult to select it. Btw, I dont make the tutorial for the 2nd pict because I use PSD to make the dark effect. And it's difficult to explain it :'(

Steps to make the 3rd picture :

1. FILE >> NEW. The size of this picture is 700 x 900 pixel.

2. FILE >> OPEN. Choose the picture for background. Click menu SELECT >> ALL (or CTRL+A). Then copy it to the untitled-1.

3. FILE >> OPEN. Choose two photos. Select it with Magic Wand Tool or Quick Selection Tool. Then copy it to the untitled-1. If it not selected tidily, you can erase some parts it with Eraser Tool.

4. To make the photos sharper, click menu FILTER >> SHARPEN >> SMART SHARPEN.

5. To make the photos become black and white, click menu IMAGE >> ADJUSTMENT >> BLACK & WHITE. Set the color like this, REDS = -4, YELLOWS = 60, GREENS = 40, CYANS = 60, BLUES = -14, MAGENTAS = -77.

6. Well, it's my favorite part ^^ To make the shadow, first you should duplicate the photo and slide it beside the photo. Then do RIGHT CLICK on the shadow layer >> BLENDING OPTION >> GRADIENT OVERLAY. For this picture I use black-grey-white gradient. Next I change the opacity become 87%.

7. Last, give some text above the photo. To make the glowing effect in your text, you have to do RIGHT CLICK on the text layer >> BLENDING OPTION >> OUTER GLOW.

How? It's pretty simple, right? Hope it help ^^
